Debbie Rawlins

Debbie grew up in a small South African town. She came from a very musical family and started singing at the age of 9. At an early age Debbie was appearing in various school concerts and musicals and at her University she was the lead singer of the university’s house band, “Rendezvous”. Prior to coming to the UK Debbie was the singer in a Jazz, Blues and Contemporary Music band.

When she started singing Debbie was initially influenced by country singers such as “The Puss Cats", “The Judds”, “Amanda Marshall”, “The Dixie Chicks” and “Tom Jones”. Her jazz/blues influences come from “Harry Connick Jr”, “Steve Tyrell” and “Frank Sinatra” and her main idols are “Christina Aguilera” and “Barbara Streisand”.

Debbie is equally competent on the piano and is a grade VII and also plays the guitar and has performed several live and candle club sessions in the UK .

Having always wanted to pursue a music career Debbie has been working with South Star Music to produce her debut album “SOS” which was completed in early 2007. For her first album Debbie wished to have a diverse genre of tracks to cover her many influences.
